President, Principal Ballet

Alexia Redick Bartlett is from three generations of ballet teachers. Her grandmother, Alicia Kish, was a Prima Ballerina Assoluta with the Hungarian National Ballet. Her mother Julia Cziller Redick taught for 55 years, creating more professional ballet dancers than any other teacher of her kind. Revered by many as the best ballet teacher in the area, Mrs. Redick brought Alexia everywhere she went. Alexia was in every class she taught her whole life. Conservatory Ballet Foundation is created in her honor.

Artistic Director

Joan Boada received his impeccable training and foundation of classical repertory from the prestigious Escuela Nacional de Ballet in Cuba. After graduation, he moved to Paris to train with Gilbert Mayer, Jacques Namont, and Manuel Legris. He danced with seven companies before joining San Francisco Ballet as a principal dancer in 1999. He excelled in classical, dramatic, and neo-classical roles, created by some of the most celebrated choreographers including Balanchine, Robbins, and Ashton.

I am a recent graduate of the Reston Conservatory Ballet, which is much more than just a ballet school, but is a place I am able to call home. I was a student since the age of three and I have been so fortunate to find a family like Conservatory's. Through the mentorship, patience, and passion of the staff, lead by the great mind of Julia Redick, I have grown not only as a dancer but as a person. I am so grateful for the Conservatory and everything it has done for me.

I graduated from conservatory 2 years ago and can't thank them enough and the wise teachings and words of wisdom from Julia Redick taught me how to be a better dancer and a better person. I have so much to thank them for and how I've grown through the years in this incredible experience! I highly recommend to any young aspiring dancer to achieve the highest level of training!

Founder

Founded in 1972 by Julia C. Redick, Conservatory Ballet was the result of a multigenerational approach to ballet education. Mrs Redick began with her love of ballet and passion for giving every student an opportunity to dance and be taught. That desire to teach has impacted thousands of children to not only be great dancers but be great people with a deep love of the art form. Mrs Redick taught for 55 years and created a legacy of excellence in the ballet world and the Reston community.
